Hello, I’m Jessica Swan, a Northern California-based ceramic artist, and the creator behind JSwanCeramics. My journey with clay began in 2013 after an unexpected twist at my local community college. Initially enrolled to study the stars but left with a deep passion for the tactile world of ceramics. Since then, I’ve immersed myself in the creative process, finding joy in transforming clay into art.

What began as a personal exploration has become a lifelong journey. Through JSwanCeramics and my work as an instructor at the Fire Arts Center, I am constantly learning and growing, both as an artist and a teacher. Art, to me, is a shared experience. Whether through the collaborative spirit of projects like the Slugs of Eureka or the personal connections made at in-person markets. Each piece I create is an invitation for others to see the world through a different lens.

Like life, my ceramic practice is ever-evolving, driven by constant experimentation with clays, glazes, and techniques. My work often blurs the boundary between craft and art, where everyday objects become beautiful through intention and care. I draw deep inspiration from my surroundings. Living amidst Northern California's rich landscapes and diverse ecosystems, its easy to find creativity in every texture, color, and form the natural world has to offer.

I’m grateful for your support and your appreciation of my work, and I’m excited to continue sharing more of what I create with you.
